Adrian has been working in the field of mental health since 1991. Originally a trained artist who attended Chelsea School of Art, he then trained as a Nurse who went on to develop a policy that shaped changes to the national forensic services.

Experience

Adrian has been working in the field of mental health since 1991. Originally a trained artist who attended Chelsea School of Art, he then trained as a Nurse who went on to develop a policy that shaped changes to the national forensic services. Adrian then worked on new approaches to help clients maintain and sustain life outside inpatient services. Following a similar project in New Zealand working with indigenous Maori, Adrian returned to the UK to study a BSc then, undertake specialist training in Cognitive Psychotherapy. He has trained under Dr Christine Padesky in California and is the co-author of Assessment and Formulation in Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (1st and 2nd editions), which is a key text in the training of CBT therapists. He has been a fully accredited BABCP therapist since 2007.

As Adrian hails from a creative background, his interest in Cognitive Psychotherapy incorporates working not only with scientific protocols but, the application of the client’s creativity. He has treated all disorders from Depression, Psychosis, Bi-Polar Disorder, Personality Disorders, Low Self-Esteem and Anxiety Disorders including PTSD, OCD, BDD, GAD, Social Anxiety, Phobias and Panic Disorder.

Adrian also has an interest in interpersonal relationships and works in a manner that is sensitive to the client’s development and relational needs. He has written extensively on this subject matter and values not only the science but the humanity of the therapy relationship.
