Rita Ora Praises Zayn Malik And His Anxiety Confession
Rita Ora has praised Zayn Malik for opening up on his struggles with anxiety coming out to confess she struggles with the crippling condition herself:
Earlier this year, Zayn admitted he suffers so badly from anxiety that he has been forced to cancel public performances – a recent example of which being his headline slot at the Capital Summertime Ball.
Rita, 25, applauded Zayn’s honesty and said she frequently visits a therapist to help her combat her anxiety issues. ‘I’m so glad someone has spoken out about it. I’m not scared to admit that I have had therapy,’ she tells the September issue of Cosmopolitan.
‘I have someone I speak to once a week. People suffer it in different ways, but for me, it’s more about thinking about the long-term goal,’ she adds.
The singer – whose hits include Body On Me and Hot Right Now – says having a tight-knit network of support (including her sister, Elena, who works with her) helps her survive when she hits a low point.
‘I’m a very “at the moment”-type person, so if I have to do something there and then, I’ll be fine. But if I think about it, that’s when anxious thoughts start going in,’ she explains.
‘Sometimes I get nervous about recording a song in the studio. I’m like, “I’m not ready to record this yet.” Or, “I don’t think I can do this.” So I’m relieved to have people around me who encourage me to do well,’ she added.
