Our Newcastle CBT Service is led by Pauline Alexander, accredited with the BABCP and experienced mental health professional.

Our therapists are chosen for their professional quality and their clinical expertise. For an assessment of your needs in the Tyne & Wear area call Sophie in our Efficacy office. Pauline Alexander

An extremely experienced member of the Efficacy team, Pauline is located in the North East. She is an accredited Cognitive Behavioural Psychotherapist, supervisor and trainer and is also a mindfulness practitioner and provider of EMDR. Pauline has worked as a general nurse, a mental health nurse and a psychological therapist over the last 37 years. She has been an accredited Cognitive Behavioural Therapist since 2000, working across both NHS and independent providers. She has been the clinical lead of a primary care service since November 2012. Before this role, she worked as an experienced CBT therapist in a specialist CBT centre and as a research therapist on a national trial for CBT psychosis.

Pauline is an accredited trainer and supervisor with the BABCP and has provided supervision and training to various universities including Kings College on CBT for trauma and psychosis. At Newcastle and Sunderland universities, she has trained therapists, and mental health practitioners in CBT and mindfulness approaches. She has numerous research collaborations and publications with a focus on CBT models in PTSD and psychosis. Pauline has been involved in extensive training and supervision projects

Special Interests

Her special interests include depression, childhood trauma, psychosis, all anxiety disorders and PTSD.

Charlie Parker

Charlie is a fully accomplished therapist with over 14 years’ experience in the NHS and private settings. Charlie currently works for some Health Trusts working with adults, referred by General Practitioners and Psychiatrists. He is also employed to provide supervision to individuals and organisations. Clinically, Charlie aims to help people find the best ways of coping for themselves without the need for lengthy therapy. He aims to provide information and advice to as wide a range of people as possible.
