CBT for Adolescents

Efficacy is now offering DBS checked Adolescent Cognitive Behavioural Therapy for 10-17-year-olds. From 17 years being the transition to adult therapy.

Adolescents female feeling depressed in school

Recent polls have suggested that many parents choose not to discuss basic mental disorders with their children. This is although 1 in 10 children will experience a mental health problem during their adolescence. Recent surveys have also stated that over 50% of adolescents had done a general internet search for depression.

Efficacy’s discreet service includes confidentiality, strict governance and information encryption. This enables the client to discuss their issues in safety, and our parent inclusion is an integral part of the therapy process. Parents are to attend the first assessment session where the therapist will assess the client and explain the course of treatment for the following sessions. This is a vital part of the therapy process. Parents will be encouraged to be a positive and proactive part of the entire treatment process.

Our therapy works alongside the IAPT Routine outcome measures, and Cognitive Behavioural Therapy can treat a wide range of issues for adolescents. These include but are not limited to:

  • Anxiety
  • OCD
  • Depression
  • Phobias

Cognitive Behavioural Therapy is evidence-based which means that it has been clinically proven to work. Research has shown CBT Therapy to be highly effective and is the treatment of choice for some mental health issues as indicated in the government-backed NICE clinical guidelines.

Research demonstrates that only pure CBT Therapy is effective, CBT Therapy blended into other therapy modalities (i.e. counselling, psychotherapy, hypnotherapy) is not proven. Our London CBT therapists only provide simple formulation driven CBT.
