CBT Therapy in Milton Keynes by Livia Pontes
Are you feeling lower than usual? Or maybe your anxiety seems to be getting out of hand? Perhaps you are going through a stressful period in your life like changing jobs, the birth of your child, divorce, illness, challenges at work or home. We all experience rough patches now and then, but if they become regular or have been going for too long, they might impact your sleep, appetite, performance at work, relationship with loved ones and friends, your self-esteem and even lead to more severe mental health problems.
As an accredited CBT Therapist in Milton Keynes can offer you a safe, confidential, compassionate environment to make sense of what is going on in your life, how to overcome your situation, move on, and have more quality of life. We will work together to prepare a treatment plan that works for you. I can share with you practical strategies to manage your thoughts and feelings so that you can continue to use them even when therapy has ended.
CBT is a collaborative, practical and efficient therapy approach which is backed by years of evidence-based research.
I have a particular interest in women's mental health during and after pregnancy and the emotional difficulties immigrants and asylum seekers face. But I also enjoy working with people from all walks of life and who are experiencing other issues such as anxiety, panic, depression or low mood, social anxiety, post-traumatic stress disorder, etc.
During my more than ten years as a clinical psychologist specialised in CBT therapy, I have talked to and helped a large number of people, and I am sure that, with your help, I can understand what you are going through. I am confident I can help you. Having lived in Brazil, the United States and the United Kingdom, I am also sensitive to how different customs, cultures and immigration influence and have an impact on behaviours, cognition, beliefs and mental health in general. I speak three languages and can conduct therapy in English, Portuguese or Spanish.
If you have never experienced CBT therapy before, you might be unsure how it works and what is going to happen. The first step is to book an initial appointment where we will talk about what you are experiencing and what you feel so we can decide the right path of treatment together.
