Billy-Anne has worked in the field of psychological health since 1982. Following extensive training at the Maudsley and some years as ward manager in the Adolescent Unit at the Bethlem Royal Hospital, she moved into outpatient CAMHS in the Midlands. Alongside her NHS work, she was an affiliate to a CBT provider in primary care and continues to successfully provide therapy to children, young people, adults, couples and families using CBT & EMDR in the independent sector. As well as treating severe anxiety, issues addressed include rehabilitation into the workplace, long-standing medical problems, persistent pain, disordered eating, medically-unexplained symptoms, prolonged grief, self-harm, post-natal depression and gender identity issues. She uses her extensive experience in Child and Adolescent mental health to inform her work with adults, whether treating individual(s) or assisting parents.
She is particularly interested in treating trauma and the emotional stuck points from which mental health problems have evolved using EMDR. Since adding this to her repertoire alongside CBT, she is on a daily basis astonished by how EMDR can resolve negative cognitions which have affected the way individuals function. Such may contribute to the development of OCD or other diagnoses, and she very much enjoys being able to collaboratively tailor the choice of intervention to the individual.
Billy-Anne strives to provide only what would be good enough for her children or loved ones, were they to be on the receiving end!
