Treatment

How we work

Every individual gets a dedicated case manager who will help decide what support might be best for them, or the people you look after. Following a rigorous assessment, our team will match you, or them, to one of the world class clinicians in our network. They are leaders in their field and work to industry standard guidelines, delivering evidence-based treatments.

Our psychological services can be delivered in-person, over the phone, or remotely via our bespoke virtual therapy rooms, allowing you, or the people you support, greater choice and flexibility.

Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT)

These treatments are based on the idea that unproductive thinking and behaviour is the root
cause of many mental health problems. Your therapist would help you learn new skills to
overcome this.

CBT
CBT is a talking therapy that can help you cope by making you more aware of the connection between your thoughts, feelings and behaviour. It focuses on challenging unhelpful beliefs, attitudes and behaviours.
Self-guided online therapy
Our online CBT is flexible, allowing you to work through modules privately at your own pace but with the support of a dedicated clinician, if needed.
Mindfulness-based Cognitive Therapy (MBCT)
Combining CBT with mindfulness techniques so you can become more aware of your thoughts, feelings, and emotions.

Other evidence-based therapy

Psychotherapy involves talking about an emotional difficulty with a trained therapist. We offer different types of psychotherapy that are based on scientific evidence and help people feel better.

Eye Movement Desensitisation and Reprocessing (EMDR)
Helps your brain to process trauma when you recall aspects of it as a therapist usually asks you to follow their finger from side to side with your eyes. It can help you change the way you think about a traumatic experience.
Interpersonal Psychotherapy (IPT)
A type of psychotherapy that is based on the principle that relationships and life events can have an impact on mood and that the reverse is also true.
Cognitive Analytical Therapy (CAT)
Use your own resources and develop skills to change destructive patterns of behaviour and negative ways of thinking and acting.

Specialist treatment

We offer expert assessments and treatments for serious and complex mental health problems.

Cognitive rehabilitation
Specialist support for people who have had a brain injury to improve their cognition, including their memory, attention, and ability to plan.
Vocational rehabilitation
Individual support to help someone stay in work.
Critical incident response
Support for you or your team that have been affected by a traumatic incident. This can include counselling, training and an on-site support clinician.

Counselling and psychotherapy

These are types of talking therapy which provide a safe and confidential space for you to talk to a trained professional about your issues and concerns. There are many options which use different approaches.

Integrative counselling
Brings together different elements of specific therapies to help people feel better based on their individual needs.
Solution Focused Therapy (SFT)
A goal-directed approach that is conducted through observation of someone’s responses to a series of precisely constructed questions.
Person-centred counselling
Helps you explore your feelings, beliefs, behaviour, and worldview, so you can become more self-aware and achieve greater independence.

Common Questions

Cognitive behavioural therapy is the treatment of choice for most of the psychological problems experienced by people.

Cognitive behavioural therapy has clear evidence of efficacy for the following:

Depression
Panic Disorder
Agoraphobia
Generalised anxiety disorder
Specific phobias
Social phobia
Obsessive-compulsive disorder
Post-traumatic stress disorder
Bulimia
Personality disorders
Habit disorders
Pain
Chronic fatigue

With problems where research is limited, cognitive behavioural therapy still comes as the modality with the best evidence. For example with:

Schizophrenia
Bipolar affective disorders
Hypertension
Low-self esteem
Sex therapy
Nightmares
Gambling
Irritable Bowel Syndrome

The National Institute for Health and Clinical Excellence (NICE) the public agency that directs the NHS on best practice continuously recommends cognitive behavioural therapy for the treatments they produce guidance on.
We have a highly trained and experienced team of cognitive behavioural psychotherapists accredited with the British Association of Behavioural and Cognitive Psychotherapy (BABCP).
Some of our therapists hold dual positions with Onebright and senior positions in the NHS or academic institutions. Positions in the NHS or academia involve managing or coordinating specialist cognitive behavioural therapy services.
An accredited cognitive-behavioural psychotherapist will have had training as a qualified registered healthcare professional before undertaking advanced cognitive behavioural psychotherapy training. So we have competently trained practitioners, providing reassurance that your well-being is in the hands of accredited and registered professionals.
